Independence & Affiliations

SWAY Canada is an independent educational initiative created by Brian McCarthy, a retired teacher who spent 33 years with the Calgary Catholic School District. Many of the teaching practices that inspired SWAY were developed and field-tested in his classroom.

SWAY Canada uses SMART Technologies products and services, including SMART Board and SMART Notebook, to demonstrate digital lesson planning and the WAY Game. Brian has had contact with SMART Technologies over the years; however, SWAY Canada and playway.ca are independently owned and operated and are not sponsored, endorsed by, or formally affiliated with SMART Technologies or the Calgary Catholic School District.
